News and Events
At our 2nd annual Alumni Roundup, 25 alumni, Board members, faculty, staff, and community leaders shared experiences of fellowship and spiritual enrichment at the Germany Conference Center. Beverly Simmons, initiated a contest to get information on alumni from those present. Winners were given gift bags. Board member, Nick Clayton and Bay Ridge alumnius Pastor Venoy Pearson, shared messages of motivation and encouragement. Kendleton’s mayor, Darryl Humphrey, offered appreciation and support to Bay Ridge in its efforts to rebuild.
Mr. and Mrs. Zamora, Bay Ridge alumni, graciously donated the beef that we ate during a scrumptious lunch. Dr. Simmons was the BBQ chef with side dishes being prepared by Josie Walker and others. All attendees dined on a delicious home cooked Bar-B-Q beef meal.
Bay Ridge President, Dr. Stanford Simmons, presented the vision for the “New Bay Ridge” and responded to concerns and questions presented by the alumni. Bay Ridge now has its own 501c3 non profit status. Alumni President, Joan Cox Dean, shared seven alumni goals and activities for discussion and approval by the alumni. Annual dues of $35 were ratified and collected.
The Roundup was a wonderful time of planning, information gathering, collaboration, and fellowship. We accomplished our agenda goals and all left with a determination to get the word out about Bay Ridge and to stay actively involved and committed.
